The Changing Nature of Publishing

Until recently, ISI has been the key resource for academics who wish to publish in Indexed Second Language Acquisition journals. Many excellent journals with professional Editorial Boards have been left inexplicably of the list.

We have extensively researched SLA journals from 2001 and compiled a comprehensive Impact Factor especially for those interested in the Second language acquisition journals.

Over 2,000 journals were listed. We have compiled a comprehensive list of the leading second language acquisition learning and teaching journals (from a list of 400) based on data found with-in academic journals. The assessment is objective and ongoing. The list will expand to include the top 50 journals.

We also have prepared a second Impact factor list (Internet Impact Factor, IIF) based on the Internet information which takes into account the changing nature of publishing.

We have made full disclosure of sources that lead to the compiling of this Impact Factor List. We shall establish further criteria in conjunction with the profession over the course of 2008.
