Call for Papers (Closes February 15th, 2008)

"Innovation and Tradition in ELT in the New Millennium"

Submission guidelines
Proposals for presentations are invited for the 2008 Conference “Innovation and Tradition in ELT in the New Millennium” to be held Saturday April 12, 2008, Pusan, Korea.

Proposals are invited in the area of "Innovation and Tradition in ELT in the New Millennium, " as well as papers which address general Asian EFL themes.

Presentations will take place in 3 categories as follows:

Category A: (30mins) Papers that look to the future with suggestions for change and innovation in EFL teaching. Topics may range from CALL and innovation in the classroom to consideration of whether Approaches are working or failing inside of local traditions cultures etc.

Category B: (30 mins) Asian EFL-related research papers.

Category C: (45 mins) Workshops or longer research papers (general EFL topics).


Abstracts should be about one single-lined A4 page in length including some references (APA style) if necessary. No graphics are to be included in this abstract. A brief bio profile (present affiliation, research interests and classes taught including email, institutional address, tel. and fax) of a short paragraph should be included. All abstracts should state which category of presentation (A, B or C) they wish to be considered for and what equipment is required.

Abstracts are to be submitted to asian_efl_journal@yahoo.com.  Successful candidates will be informed by the end of February. Refereed Conference Proceedings for the event will go online in the December 2008 Asian EFL Journal followed by a hardcopy version later in the year.

Presenting U.S.$150.00 (includes equipment fee)

Conference speakers will also:-
(a) be able to observe English teaching in the Korean classroom
(b) go on a Tour of Busan
