The School runs a successful Masters programme in Teaching English as a Foreign Language which provides practicing teachers with an overview of key concepts in English Language Teaching as they relate to specified contexts. website

 

From September 2006, the School of Languages, University of Salford will be introducing a new MA in Applied Linguistics. This MA will be particularly suitable for applicants who have an existing interest in languages and who seek a challenging and innovative environment in which to develop their expertise. It will also be making available a pathway with Applied Linguistics on the MA TEFL programme website
 

The Master of TESOL will provide students who possess demonstrated academic and professional competence, the opportunity to study at an advanced level in specific areas related to language education. The course aims to:-

# provide an opportunity for in-depth study in the areas of applied linguistics and second language learning and teaching
# develop the student's understanding and awareness of scholarly literature and research in the area of applied linguistics and second language learning and teaching

# facilitate the development of educators who possess a body of specialist knowledge and competencies and who are capable of providing leadership in the area of applied linguistics and second language learning and teaching. website
