Promoting standard English in Singapore
If Singaporeans continue to focus on the small issues in our discussion on improving the standard of English, we may miss the woods for the trees.
Why is the employment of more native speakers as teachers even an issue of controversy in the first place? After all, for years we have been employing hundreds, perhaps thousands, of teachers from China to teach Mandarin in schools and colleges.

China: Ancient education surfaces in city
A GROUP of parents have opened a controversial institute in suburban Shanghai that is modeled on the education system of ancient China to teach children. Some university professors raised doubts about the legality of the Meng Mu Tang Institute in Xinzhuang, Minhang District, not to mention whether it could provide children with a solid education. story
