Title
Studying  Drama in Learning a Foreign Language

Abstract

This study was conducted with the participation of the students of the English Language and Literature departments of Istanbul University, Istanbul and Ataturk University, Erzurum in Turkey. We tried to find out what students think about the effects of the drama classes in the fourth years of their undergraduate studies. As a result of the study, a significant similarity between the students’ views and the theoretical benefits of a drama class as proved by research papers and dissertations in the field was observed. Regarding the benefits of studying drama, attending drama classes raised students’ discussion and research motivation; helped them to become more active in classes; and improved their langue skills. This study illustrates how arguments of language teaching experts in favor of a literature classes in language learning and teaching are justified by some sound evidence provided by the participants of this study.
