Title
Social Context: A Rather Ignored Trigger in EFL Contexts
Presenter
Reza Gholami
Abstract:
This article tries to investigate the importance of the social context which plays a crucial role in learning a second or foreign language through appraising Spolsky’s model of second language learning. We have frequently discussed the effects of factors such as attitude, motivation, age and personality on learning a second language but the rationale to back them up is social context in which the learner is being brought up and trained.
In countries where English is spoken as a foreign language, this context is naturally absent and consequently the drives for acquiring the second language seem to be missing and the final demanded outcome will never or hardly ever meets the desired proficiency level. The article will fully discuss the reasons for attending to the social contexts as a natural trigger which is almost discarded nowadays.
Keywords:- Spolsky’s model of second language learning,
