Title
Motivation on English Learning

Presenter
Wain-Chin Dana Chen

Abstract
Motivation has been widely recognized as an important role in foreign language learning. It is believed that students with high motivation to learn a foreign language tend to perform better than those with low motivation. This paper intends to investigate the orientation of 58 ROC Military students’ motivation to learn English in Taiwan. In addition, some other aspects relating to students’ personal background, family environment, and teaching environment on the English learning motivation will be shown in a general perspective. One of the interesting findings reveals that institutionalized learning framework was targeted as the main cause of demotivation for those cadets.
